  • Use all uppercase lettering.
  • 12 point Times New Romans.
  • Center all text.
  • 2" top and bottom margins.
  • Approximately 2" between elements.
  • In order,
  1. Institution name
  2. Title of paper
  3. "SUBMITTED TO" name of professor
  4. "IN PARTIAL FULMILLMENT OF"
  5. course name
  6. "BY"
  7. your name
  8. Month, day, year

Page number is only "running header".

On first page, page number is bottom center of "footer".

All other text pages, the page number is flush right in the header.

On reference page, page number is bottom center of "footer".

  • Entry is single spaced.
  • Separate entries by one blank line.

Single space the quotation.

 

Margins, Fonts, and Indents - Student Supplement for SBLHS 2nd ed. - 2.1 + 2.4

Margins

1" margins on all sides.

Fonts
  • Something in Unicode (universal standard type font that also allows for use of other languages and diacritical marks), such as Times New Roman or Arial.
  • 12 pt (10 pt in notes or below tables and figures)
Indents
  • First paragraph of new section of paper is flush left.
  • 1/2" indentation used at beginning of successive paragraphs.

Citation Placement - Student Supplement for SBLHS 2nd ed. - 2.9

The citation marker (footnote number) is placed after the final punctuation of the referenced statement.

Footnote
  • Footnote should be on same page as the reference statement.
  • Footnotes should be separated from main text by two-inches.
  • Let word processor set the numbers, don't change them.
  • First line of footnote is indented 1/2". Rest are flush left.
  • 10 pt font (same font as text)
  • Single spaced.
  • One blank line between footnotes.

Block Quotations - Student Supplement for SBLHS 2nd ed. - 2.2

  • Five or more lines.
  • No quotation marks.
  • Single space, with extra line before and after block.
  • Entire quotation is indented 1/2" from left margin
  • Citation comes after closing punctuation.

Reference Page Format - Student Supplement for SBLHS 2nd ed. - 2.11

  • 12 pt Times New Romans
  • 2" top margin
  • Title of reference page is centered and in all uppercase (Bibliography, Works Cited, Reference Page, Works Consulted, etc. Consult with your instructor for preferred name.)
  • Single space entries
  • One blank line between entries
  • First line is flush to left margin; subsequent lines indented 1/2"
  • Entries arranged alphabetically by first element in citation (typically an author's last name)
